The Southern Cross Motor Inn and Tourist Park has been hosting school excursions, motorcycle clubs, charity cycling groups, family reunions and wedding groups for over 25 years.
We are ideally situated in the quiet country town of Berridale, at the Cross-Roads of the Snowy Mountain region which is only 90 minutes from Canberra, and only 45-60 minutes to either Perisher or Thredbo snowfields.

Our property is situated in a small country town, tucked away from bars and nightlife, and only 1km from the centre of Berridale.
Everything you need is on-site including restaurant, ski hire, snow accessories shop and night-time activities like karaoke, discos, movie nights and trivia quizes.
Our rooms rooms sleep from 2 to 16 guests with ensuite bathrooms, heating, tv/dvd player, tea/coffee making facilities, linen options and most with cooking facilities.
We offer great packages for ski excursions. Everything you need for a fantastic ski trip is all here at the Southern Cross Motor Inn. Let us look after the organisation of your trip as well - we can book everything from coach charters, Canberra venues such as Parliament House and Canberra accommodation for you. And we are not a travel agent so we offer this service free of charge us on your behalf. We will provide you with one invoice covering all components of your school excursion. Our equipment is constantly updated to ensure the students have a safe and enjoyable skiing experience.
The Snowy Mountains have a lot more to offer than just snow - come and visit us from Spring to Autumn and see the beauty of the mountains without all that cold white stuff! There is so much to see and do in the Snowies - amazing mountain biking and road cycling, trout fishing, kayaking, water skiing, horse riding and especially fantastic bush walks - have you conquered Kozzie yet?
The most popular Spring to Summer excursion is a three day excursion including stops in Canberra to visit Parliament House and Old Parliament House, the War Memorial and either the Institute of Sport or Questacon on the way to and from School, and spending the second day visiting Thredbo to catch a scenic chairlift ride and walk to the summit of Mt Kosciusko and perhaps a play in the indoor heated pools or a ride on the bobsled in the afternoon.
Our Restaurant seats up to 100 guests and provides a variety of delicious hearty three course dinners to keep everyone nourished for a big day on the snow, and cater to all dietary requirements.
Our breakfasts consist of a choice of cereals, toast and spreads, eggs, bacon or sausages, hash browns, spaghetti or baked beans, tea/coffee, water and juice.
We can also organised packed lunches to take with you in the morning, or a hot lunch on the snowfields.
If a member of your group is celebrating a birthday, make sure you let us know so that we can organise a celebratory cake.
Our Ski Hire Shop is conveniently located on-site with enough skis, snowboards and toboggans to fit out up to four coach loads of guests. Our clothing range caters to all ages and sizes with clothing from size 0 up to 8XL.
Exclusively for our School Groups we will obtain all information required to fit out each student prior to your arrival to ensure the quickest fittings, we will arrange your lift tickets from Perisher to be at the motel on the day of your arrival, and we will provide each student with an identity card not only including emergency contact details but all identifying numbers for their ski gear to make the unloading of equipment from the coach that little bit easier.
